Wednesday 9th October 2024 Park Royal Hotel Darling Harbour Sydney!!
The Indian Pacific had no WIFI hence the lack of posts but this evening – it's 8.30pm here and I'm now 10 hours ahead of the UK – I am sitting in a hotel room the size of my Lounge & Dining room combined and that's without the Ensuite which has a bath and shower and a proper desk(Not in the shower!) so no excuses. I am, however, extremely tired after the nearly 4000 kms transit across Australia aboard the Indian Pacific and after a thrilling ride today on the world's steepest rail way on an Off-Train Excursion through the Blue Mountains north of Sydney.
So I will download the photos and begin recounting my experience aboard the Indian Pacific over the next few days in addition of course to what I decide to do in Sydney! A starlight dinner aboard a Sydney Harbour Cruise is in my sights at the moment.
My only complaint is that it's colder here than in the UK – well certainly in South Australia. I'm so pleased I brought my light weight padded jacket that I bought on the Silver Endeavour in Canada recently.
The photos are of the Indian Pacific Locomotive at Crook – whilst the train water tanks were refilled and the diesel refuelled - yesterday when the temperature was 22 C and of my palatial room here in Sydney.
