Well, I have been home a week, and I thought I was over jet lag last week but a double Covid Booster and Flu vaccination last Thursday has, unusually for me, brought about a reaction which has made me very sleepy and aching. I slept for 14 hours overnight from Sunday to Monday and over 12 hours last night. Thankfully, I'm beginning to feel more myself this afternoon as I write (It's 17.00hrs in the UK) so I can resume completing this Blog.
I did some updating on previous posts last evening so you may have had some notifications? I'm not entirely sure what happens but I do know that the previous posts are now consistent in terms of days and dates!
It has been rather odd watching the news this week which has mainly come from Sydney following the progress of King Charles and Queen Camilla on their visit to Australia. I could name the exact spots from which the BBC Correspondents have made their transmissions! With all the appalling weather we have had over the last week I just wish I had stayed on Sydney!
The coincidence mentioned in the title to this post relates to the meeting between King Charles and two Doctors who are pioneering a prostate cancer treatment in Australia. It all began again with a conversation with a guy sitting next to me as we waited for the Tropical Storm to abate and board the aircraft for Singapore. He was working on a very complex and advanced PowerPoint presentation on his laptop which I just could not help overlooking. Having used PowerPoint extensively in my career I complemented him on the detail and high standard – with the appropriate caveats that I wasn't trying to pry into what was clearly an important corporate presentation. He was very happy to talk with me.
To cut a long story short it turns out that he was either a Senior Executive or Medical Researcher with AdvanCell on his way to deliver a paper at a Nuclear Medical Conference in the UK and then on to Europe. AdvanCell has pioneered a lead base radioactive isotope possibly attached to a specialist 'T' type cell that can be injected into the body to search out and destroy cancerous prostrate cells. Hence the meeting with King Charles.
It was a fascinating and spontaneous conversation and incredible that only a week later this same research would be shared with King Charles. If you look at this link you will see one of the PowerPoint slides (See photo attached) on which my passing acquaintance was working: https://www.advancell.com.au/news
OK well a rather circuitous route to getting back to finishing the Blog but I felt this coincidence should not go unrecorded.
I will now begin to post about the issing days.
