Welcome to my Next Adventure - Riding the Indian Pacific Train from Perth to Sydney Australia

My next and last adventure for this year has come round very quickly as I take a 16hr 45min flight with Quantus Airlines on Sunday 29th September to Perth Australia!  I'm told that this is the longest direct flight now available from London Heathrow and this will be the longest flight I have ever taken - or is that endured!  I think the flight will be quite a challenge since we depart at 11.55am Sunday 29th September and land at 11.40am (Perth time - 8hrs ahead) on Monday 30th September so choosing when to try and sleep is going to be interesting!

Fortunately I will be met at Perth Airport by my great friends - Lesley & Bob - of nearly 13 years aquantance from my Antarctic voyage.  They have just moved from Sydney to Perth and I shall be staying with them for a week before joining the Indian Pacific Train on Sunday 6th October.  Lesley and Bob are both excited - as I am too - to explore Perth and its surrounds as they also settle into their new home.

The image below  shows the route of the Indian Pacific and I will post more details about the train and the Itinerary in later posts.

I shall be 3 nights and 4 days on the train before arriving in Sydney on the 9th October and then have 4 days or so to take in the sights before departing for home on 14th and arriving LHR early morning on the 15th October, this time with a stopover for a few hours in Singapore!

Although I will have good access to the internet in Perth and Sydney, access on the train is thought to be variable.  So I plan to try and provide a daily post with at least some photos and a few words and then write up a more extensive travelogue on return.
